Joomla Template Club
Joomla! templates is a quite big business, besides other powerful components, or at least designing them can pay your bills.
One happenning phenomena in Joomla community is Template Club. People join the club and get access to download and use pre-designed templates for some period of time.
Imagine you have 6,000 members on your site and every members pays you $40-50 for three months, and you have $24-30,000 in a quarter or $96-120,000 a year, in advance! Or if in the case all members signed up with a one year membership for $75 each, you get $60,000, that’s still enough money to support your life. Some clubs offer cheaper fee and for some others ask you for more money.
Of course, every month you have to design at least one design and release it to your members, and give support for the money they spent. And may be fix some bugs (which is quite a few) or release free designs or bonus templates. Just say you spend 2-3 days a month to design a new template, and every day you have to give answers on support forum that took 1-3 hours a day. You still have time for your family and friends, other projects or may be go to work as a regular employee.
And oh.. you have to build a site as a showcase or portfolio for your design.
Two clubs that interest me are Rockettheme and Joomlart. They both offer great designs. The thing that bother is what club to choose. With the name “Joomlart” I was hoping that they release template that really great in art, but I was wrong, they don’t offer you templates with art, what they give you are templates with great-latest technology, i.e moofx and ajax. I like the looks of Rockettheme templates, they’re great, but I need more cutting edge technology as a bonus to my visitors.
Or may be I have to look at one time payment for a template like Joomlashack? Or my fellow Indonesian Templateplazza which for me as a similar looks for all templates they design?
Or may be I have to design my own template? That’s the problem….
